Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor has been announced as the new co-host of Bake Off: The Professionals, replacing Stacey Solomon.

Solomon, who welcomed daughter Belle in February, had taken over presenting duties from Tom Allen for the show's seventh series.

The announcement was made by the show's official Twitter account, who shared an image of Taylor alongside co-host Liam Charles and judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden.

The tweet read: "From Ted Lasso to tiramisu - we’re delighted to welcome @EllieJaneTaylor as our new co-host on Bake Off: The Professionals alongside @LiamcBakes.

"Pastry chefs beware - judges @BenoitBlin_MCA & @Cherish_Finden are also back for pud! The new series arrives on @Channel4 this summer."

Taylor was also recently announced to be joining the cast of the Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series, Knuckles, alongside Game of Thrones' Rory McCann.

Meanwhile, The Great British Bake Off is also undergoing a line-up change for its new series, with This Morning presenter Alison Hammond joining the show, taking over from Matt Lucas.

Speaking earlier this month, judge Prue Leith expressed her excitement at working with Hammond, revealing that she hopes the new host will put an end to the show's famous innuendos.

“I never get the jokes, you know... all this stuff about innuendo and things,” she told Nick Grimshaw on the Dish podcast. “I feel I'm really glad Alison's coming, because at least she's a woman and she'll be a little more sensible.”

“Those three men [Matt, Noel Fielding, Paul Hollywood], they're like three children. The word ‘sausage’ puts them into [hysterics],” she added, before bursting into laughter.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
