Stafford halts skid behind McLaughlin

Jan. 9—The Stafford High boys basketball team was looking to generate any sort of positive momentum it could muster Monday night.

Dylan McLaughlin delivered.

The senior finished with a game-high 16 points as host Stafford topped Bolton 41-29 in a NCCC game.

The win snaps a three-game losing streak for Stafford (2-4).

Stafford led 10-6 after a quarter and 17-15 at the half. Bolton (2-5) kept the deficit at two, 25-23, entering the fourth, but Stafford outscored the visitors 16-6 in the fourth to ice the game.

Collin Gudeman added nine points while freshman Colin Tozier added eight. Trevor Buchanan paced Bolton with 15 points while Colby Marsh contributed six.

The teams play again Wednesday, this time at Bolton.

ROCKVILLE 63, INTERNATIONAL 38. Weston LaBrecque finished with a game-high 29 points as the Rams picked up a non-conference win Bloomfield.

Rockville (4-3) led 13-7 after a quarter and 23-20 at the half before outscoring the Dragons (3-4) 21-3 in the third to take control.

LaBrecque scored 11 points in the third. He finished with 12 made baskets, including three 3s.

Finley Ross contributed 11 points in the win. Ronald Baapogmah led International with eight points.

Rockville is at Canton today.

MANCHESTER 45, CONARD 39. In Manchester, sophomore William Oden-Tann scored 14 points to lead the Red Hawks to a CCC interdivisional game.

Conard (4-3), which received votes in this week's GameTimeCT/New Haven Register state media poll, led 9-7 after a quarter.

But the Red Hawks (6-3) outscored the visitors 19-10 in the second to take a seven-point lead at the half.

Manchester led 36-32 after three and held off the Red Wolves in the fourth, outscoring them 9-7.

Seven of Oden-Tann's points came in the first quarter. Classmate Derrick Sheets added 10 points in the win. Riley Fox scored a game-high 28 for Conard.

Manchester is back in action Friday when it travels to South Windsor.
