Teachers across the province will be employing new tactics after its union announced additional job action for the week.

On Saturday morning the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF) sent out notice of three different types of job action that will occur on Tuesday.

The STF had already said teachers will be pulled from extracurricular activities and lunch time supervision on Monday in certain areas of the province.

STF president Samantha Becotte said previously that they have told the government-trustee bargaining committee that until they have the authority to negotiate on classroom complexity the union would be declining their invitation.

The Ministry of Education said in a statement they have invited the STF to the table everyday this week.

At last word, the ministry maintains it has moved on a number of items including salary and workplace safety. It did not say it is willing to move on class complexity.

The province was not immediately available for a response to the latest round of job action announced for Tuesday.

The rotating strike action is means teachers will not come to school or do any of their regular duties on Tuesday. The strikes will take effect in these areas in the province:

  • École Boréale (Ponteix).

  • All schools in Chinook School Division.

  • All schools in Île à la Crosse School Division; Lloydminster Teachers' Association.

  • All schools in Lloydminster Public School Division and Lloydminster Catholic School Division.

  • All schools in Northwest School Division.

  • All schools in Prairie Valley School Division.

  • The Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre, North West Campus in Neilburg and South West Campus in Swift Current

Teachers in these divisions who would normally supervise students at noon for lunch will be withdrawn, according to the STF release:

  • All schools in Holy Trinity Catholic School Division.

  • All schools in Horizon School Division.

  • All schools in North East School Division.

  • All schools in Regina Catholic Schools.

  • All schools in South East Cornerstone School Division.

The STF also says teachers will be pulled from extracurricular activities on Tuesday. Activities that happen before, during or after school hours, including sports, drama, music and band, science clubs and more, are affected.

This withdrawal will involve STF members in these schools across the province:

  • All schools in Creighton School Division.

  • All schools in Horizon School Division.

  • All schools in Prairie South School Division.

  • All schools in Regina Catholic Schools.

  • All schools in Regina Public Schools.
