Standoff in West Alton tied to body found in Foristell, police say

FORISTELL, Mo. – FOX 2 News has confirmed that a standoff in West Alton that ended with one man dead is connected to an investigation of a body found off Interstate 70 in Foristell.

A spokesperson for the St. Charles County Police Department said police received a call around 3:15 a.m. Thursday about a shooting in the 1000 block of North Service Road.

Officers said a woman was found shot to death in the parking lot of a trucking company. Her identity has not been released.

Police claim a man reached out to them hours later and said he had information about the woman’s death. He initially stated he would turn himself in to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office but then changed his mind and said he would surrender to St. Charles authorities.

Police described this man as a person of interest in the woman’s death.

St. Charles County police met the man at the Phillips 66 gas station along Highway 67 in West Alton. Dispatchers said the man told them he had a weapon in his vehicle.

Police claim that while officers were discussing the matter with the individual, he went to his truck and shots were fired. Police have not said who fired the shots.
