Here’s who Stanislaus District fans voted as The Bee’s Girls Prep of the Week

In the days of position-less basketball, having multiple players that can do multiple things on the court is important.

Johansen has that in Amira Manning. At 5-foot-5, she plays point guard, shooting guard and small forward for the Vikings, averaging 11.6 points and 8.1 rebounds a game.

Manning is trying to help Vikings turn their season around and led the team to its first league win on Jan. 13 with 17 points and a season-high 14 rebounds against Lathrop.

The fans noticed the performance, voting Manning The Bee’s Girls Prep of the Week with the biggest turnout we’ve seen in recent memory.

She received 42% of the more than 105,000 votes in this week’s poll. Turlock’s Jenna Dean and Escalon’s Macie Vickers finished in second and third place, respectively.

“Amira brings hard work, dedication, determination, toughness and a personality that is contagious,” said Johansen head coach Derrick McLaughlin. “She makes everyone around her better just by her level of competition.”

The senior won Johansen’s Athlete of the Month award in September for her performance during volleyball season and competes in track and field as well.
