Stanislaus schools honor nurse, custodian and other essential workers

Seven people received Employees Making a Difference awards from the Stanislaus County Office of Education.

The annual honors are for classified staff members, such as custodians and cafeteria workers, who support teachers and administrators at the campuses.

A Jan. 19 online ceremony recognized the winners in seven categories, as well as 20 other nominees from around the county. The winners, who move on to the statewide competition, are:

  • Karl Anderson, a campus supervisor for Modesto City Schools, in the security services category

  • Anne Bowers, a licensed vocational nurse in the Turlock Unified School District, health and student services

  • Alexandra Hancock, an instructional technology trainer for MCS, technical services

  • Cindy Perez, a staff secretary IV for MCS, clerical and administrative services

  • Humberto Rodriguez, a head custodian for Turlock, custodial and maintenance services

  • Yuphaa Rolicheck, a food service worker II in the Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District, food and nutrition services

  • Salome Trujillo, a resource assistant for English language learners in the Riverbank Unified School District, paraprofessional.

Trujillo also received the annual Jane Johnston Civility Award. It is named for an assistant county superintendent who died suddenly in 2012.

The county office sponsors the awards with Region VII of the Association of California School Administrators.
