Stanley McFadden officially sworn in as Stockton Police Chief

The city of Stockton has a new police chief. On Thursday, Stanley McFadden took the oath of office and received his badge. McFadden is Stockton’s first African American police chief. He spent almost 30 years with the San Jose Police Department, although he’s lived in San Joaquin County for 20 years. McFadden was appointed as police chief following a nationwide search that involved community and police departments surveys, interviews with nearly 40 community leaders and a group of four finalists. He said during the hiring process that his goal for the job would be “to bring transformative change, create a safe environment for all residents, and establish trust between those who serve the city and those who are the city.”
