Star of ‘Sex Education’ is up for sale in England — the famous Milburn house. See it
While it’s hard to steal the spotlight from actors like Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson in the Netflix comedy/drama series “Sex Education,” one such star managed to do just that — the famous Herefordshire estate, home of main characters Otis and Dr. Jean Milburn.
The five-bedroom house just landed on the U.K. market for $1.82 million.
Named The Chalet, it was originally used as a salmon fishing lodge when built in 1912 but has since gained a particular amount of popularity thanks to its media credits.
“In more recent years, under the current ownership, the property has featured in many location shoots including the Channel 4 series, ‘Extraordinary Escapes’ and globally acclaimed Netflix series, ‘Sex Education,’” the listing on Knight Frank says. “Articles have been written in many periodicals, including The Times.”
With three bathrooms, three living rooms and a posh interior, the residence is primarily known for its picturesque exterior that rests within the emerald green backdrop of the River Wye and Wye Gorge.
“The present owner purchased the property in 2002 when in need of complete renovation,” the listing says. “The Chalet was carefully extended including the conservatory dining room, following the Norwegian design. Most of the plumbing and wiring was replaced, as was the roof.
“A bespoke wood painted kitchen was installed and the bathroom and shower rooms are contemporary in design. There are five log burning stoves on the ground floor, floors were replaced with wood and stone floors, and pitch pine doors stripped.”
Of course, the house’s fame will possibly help it sell faster, especially since fans said goodbye to it in September when Netflix dropped its final season of the show after four seasons.
“The fact that this property is so well known only adds to the appeal of what is an incredibly rare opportunity to own a spectacular home, with exceptional views of the River Wye in a beautiful, private, woodland setting,” listing agent James Toogood told Architectural Digest.
The house was even featured on Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page that’s dedicated to posting interesting and unique estates up for sale. Folks remembered the home fondly.

Herefordshire is about 140 miles northwest of London.
