Star Trek: Discovery season 3 isn't airing for a while yet
If you're waiting patiently for the return of Star Trek: Discovery, it seems you've got a bit of a wait on your hands.
The second season of the sci-fi series wrapped up in April, but it looks like season three isn't coming until next year – and "later" next year at that (via Variety). CBS is still to confirm the show's exact return date.
But although it's still a way off, at least some details about the new episodes have started to emerge in the past month.

It was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that Discovery season three began shooting in Iceland in early July, while David Ajala has joined the cast as brand new character Cleveland 'Book' Booker.
And discussing the plot, Discovery co-creator Alex Kurtzman teased that it's exploring new depths for a Trek series.
"Obviously we made a pretty radical jump into the future at the end of season two – we're going almost a 1,000 years into the future in season three, which is crazy," he explained. "Further than any Trek series has ever gone before."

However, Kurtzman clarified that although there will be changes, the show will stay true to its roots, saying: "Every conversation about how we create Star Trek is filtered through [Gene] Roddenberry's essential vision of optimism, which can never really change because it is the spirit and soul of Trek for all of us. It's more important than ever.
"So there will be lots and lots of huge changes in season three – there will be things you recognise, there will be things you don't recognise... part of the fun of it is that we get to honour canon but shake it up hugely."
Star Trek: Discovery airs on CBS All Access in the US and Netflix internationally, including the UK.
