Star Trek: Discovery star Anson Mount has weighed in on a possible MCU return for Black Bolt.

The actor played the Inhuman King in the short-lived series Inhumans and made a surprise appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where he suffered a horrible, gruesome death, courtesy of Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch (and the film's director Sam Raimi, who knows a thing or two about spectacular killings).

In a new interview, Mount hasn't ruled out a comeback as Black Bolt, though he clarified no official talks with Marvel have happened just yet.

"If the answer was yes I wouldn't be able to tell you – but the answer is no, so I can," he told RadioTimes.com.

"I've had some informal conversations with the powers [at] Marvel and it's a conversation," he continued.

"But they've got their current phase that they need to do."

It looks like even though Mount got asked back, it wouldn't be in the near future as the MCU has only just entered Phase Five.

Kicked off by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which earned mixed reviews, this phase is scheduled to continue till the end of next year and is set to include the hotly-anticipated Deadpool 3, marking Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson's official MCU debut.

As for Mount, he sounds like he'd be game to return as Black Bolt at some point.

"I don't know, we'll see," he said.

"I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is streaming on Disney+.
