Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has confirmed a major crossover in its latest trailer.

The wildly popular spin-off series began last year and follows Captain Pike (Anson Mount), Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck) and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) explore the galaxy on the U.S.S. Enterprise.

The series is set to warp onto our screens on June 15, with the latest trailer beaming fans into outer space for a taste of what's to come.

Not only does it promise more from James T Kirk (Paul Wesley) in new episodes, the almost-two minute trailer gives us a glimpse of a major crossover between Star Trek universes.

The second series of Strange New Worlds will see a crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks, as Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) and Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) come aboard the Enterprise in an episode that will also feature animation in the live-action world.

The special episode will be directed by Trekkie veteran Jonathan Frakes, who is best known for his portrayal of Commander William Riker in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and subsequent films and series.

A synopsis for the upcoming series teases plenty more inter-galactic adventure, saying: "The crew of the USS Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, confronts increasingly dangerous stakes, explores uncharted territories and encounters new life and civilizations.

"The crew will also embark on personal journeys that will continue to test their resolve and redefine their destinies. Facing friends and enemies both new and familiar, their adventures will unfold in surprising ways never seen before on any Star Trek series."

It follows the news that Star Trek: Discovery will take its final journey during its fifth season, which is currently set to air early in 2024, after which the show will come to an end.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds streams on Paramount+, where season 2 will premiere on June 15.
