Star Wars Day: Celebrate with these apps, games and deals

May the Fourth be with you!

Saturday marks Star Wars Day, chosen on May 4 because of its play on words with the classic line "May the Force be with you."

Fans of Star Wars have a lot to look forward to this year, as the next film "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" will hit theaters this December.

Fans can celebrate in a variety of ways, including catching up on their favorite Star Wars flicks, or reading their favorite books. They can also take time to remember Peter Mayhew. The actor who played Chewbacca in the original trilogy, "The Revenge of the Sith" and "The Force Awakens," died Tuesday at the age of 74.

There's also plenty to do on your phones and video game consoles, with several apps and games to help you enjoy #Maythe4th. Here's a look at some fun techy ways to celebrate:

The official Star Wars app

The official app has everything a Star Wars fan would want right on their phone. Users can watch official videos or track the latest news on the franchise. Custom weather reports will tell you whether it "feels like Endor" or another planet in Star Wars lore. There's also Star Wars themed GIFs, emojis and even a Force Trainer game to unleash your inner Jedi.

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes

This strategy game for iOS and Android devices lets players assemble a team of Star Wars heroes and villains from across every era and compete in epic battles. There are more than 140 characters in the game, and players can collect classic ships such as the Millennium Falcon to form an elite fleet.

LEGO Star Wars

Since the first video game launched in 2005, "LEGO Star Wars" has been a massive hit on smartphones and video game consoles. The originals focused on the first trilogy featuring "A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back," and "Return of the Jedi." In 2016, a chapter based on "The Force Awakens" launched for various game consoles, recounting the adventures of Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren.
