Patience, Star Wars fans must have, as the upcoming Episode IX is expected to be the last film in the series for a long while, with the franchise taking some time to "reset".

With Star Wars Celebration now in full swing, Disney boss Bob Iger has told Bloomberg that they'll be taking a break from the galaxy far, far away.

"We will take a pause, some time, and reset, because the Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie," he explained.

"There will be other Stars Wars movies, but there will be a bit of a hiatus."

In a bid to avoid Star Wars fatigue further (hello, Solo: A Star Wars Story), Iger also revealed that although there are "movies in development" any official announcements are a long way off.

"We have not announced any specific plans for movies thereafter," he explained. "There are movies in development, but we have not announced them."

It seems that Disney has taken Mark Hamill's advice after all, as the actor – aka Luke Skywalker – recently hinted at "Star Wars fatigue".

"I'm not gonna tell [Disney] how to run their business, but is there a possibility of 'Star Wars fatigue'? Yeah, I think there is," he said. "I've experienced it, to a certain degree, but they never listen to my ideas anyway, so who needs 'em?!"
