Starbucks Opens Princi Bakery in New York City

Starbucks isn't just making coffee and a select few baked goods anymore. The store recently teamed up with Italian baker Rocco Princi to launch a bakery, and New Yorkers will soon be able to see (and taste) the fruits of their labor. Princi, the new bakery, is opening its first east coast chapter on Thursday, October 25 in New York City, Refinery29 reports.

Several Princi Cafés and Bakeries have already opened in Seattle and Chicago. Jennifer C. Martin wrote of the Seattle store in Uproxx that the food and atmosphere gave off an authentic Italian vibe: "The shelves were lined with Italian-esque baked goodies, far more extravagant than your average cafe. Imagine the fanciest Panera Bread you’ve ever been in, folks… and you aren’t even close." The bakery can also be found inside Starbucks roasteries in Seattle, Shanghai, and Milan.

The NYC cafe is at 1633 Broadway, about 10 blocks north of Times Square. Customers can get cakes, pastries, fresh breads, pizza, and sandwiches based on recipes from the Italian restaurant Princi, which Princi founded in 1986.

The bakery is gradually opening up around the world but may not be in your location for a while, according to Uproxx — which might make a good case for visiting New York (or Seattle or Chicago) some time soon.
