If a coffee boost isn't enough, Starbucks has now added energy drinks to their offerings.

“Over the years, we’ve continued to identify new and exciting ways to expand our ready-to-drink portfolio and saw an opportunity to complement our existing coffee beverage lineup with Starbucks BAYA Energy, the brand’s first beverage to launch in the energy category," said Chanda Beppu, vice president of Channel Development Americas at Starbucks, in a press release from the company.

The new beverage line was inspired by a recent increase in demand for energy drinks. According to the release, in 2020 energy drink sales were up 9.2% and since 2015, the category has seen an increase of 37.4%.

Are Starbucks energy drinks healthy?

According to the release, the new drinks contain 90 calories and 160 mg of caffeine per 12 ounce can and the energy kick comes from caffeine naturally found in coffee fruit.

Brightly colored cans of Starbucks BAYA Energy have hit grocery store and convenience store shelves in three flavors: mango guava, raspberry lime and pineapple passionfruit. They will be available in Starbucks cafes starting on March 1.
