The store in Stratford is scheduled to reopen on July 21 or July 24, while the Bridgeport store is scheduled to reopen on Aug. 7, according to signs posted at those stores. As of Monday, there did not appear to be any signs providing reopening dates for the stores in Newington, Orange, and Wethersfield.

"We are sorry for our any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you in our renewed store," reads one of the signs at the store in Bridgeport.

A message left Monday for Starbucks, the world's largest coffeehouse chain, asking why it decided to renovate those stores and the extent of those improvements was not immediately returned.

Alongside the store renovations, Starbucks continues to expand its presence in Connecticut. An under-construction store, at 1705 Fairfield Ave., on Bridgeport's west side, is expected to open by next month, according to city officials. A store at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks is scheduled to open later this year. In Stratford, the town's Zoning Commission approved earlier this year Starbucks' plan for a store at 1220 Linden Ave., next to Interstate 95's Exit 32.

For the quarter ending April 2, Seattle-headquartered Starbucks had 17,482 stores in North America, up 3 percent year over year. North American revenues increased 17 percent year over year, to $6.38 billion, while comparable store sales in the region rose 12 percent.
