Kremeland open in Navarre

Sept. 5 was a day of openings in Stark County. Along with Bojangles in Jackson Township, it also was the grand opening for Tripp’s Kremeland Diner and Dariette, at 514 Main St. N in Navarre.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with a full ice cream service.

A scan of the eatery’s menu shows the most expensive item as a $10 chef salad; the Rodeo Burger, with barbecue sauce, bacon, onion ring and cheddar cheese, for $8.50; and a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, served on a brioche bun or flour tortilla, for $8.50. A full breakfast menu includes sandwiches, omelets and dishes such as a “Kitchen Sink Scramble” ($10.50), which features eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, peppers, onion and tomato, all smothered in sausage gravy and served with toast.

If you’re still hungry, consider this one we found on the ice cream menu — the waffle sundae ($9.25), with vanilla ice cream, candied pecans and bacon served on a homemade waffle.

The spot serves 16 flavors of hard ice cream and soft ice cream. There’s a nod to nearby Fairless High School with the Falcon Flurries, akin to a Dairy Queen Blizzard. They didn’t forget your four-legged friends, either. Pup Cups are $1.50.

Tripp’s Kremeland is open Tuesday through Sunday, with fall hours of 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Nelson’s Bar & Grill open in Plain Township

A new lunch and dinner spot opened Sept. 1 at 3110 Whipple Ave. NW, in the same plaza as Cracked Egg Café, and behind Grinder’s Above & Beyond.

According to the eatery’s Facebook page, Nelson's Bar & Grill celebrated its grand opening Sept. 8. It is open seven days, with hours 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; and the kitchen is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The bar is open 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

A look through the Nelson’s menu finds a few items we’re eager to try. Housemade chips are always a must-try, and the Potato Pancake Stack ($7) is very intriguing. It has potato pancakes topped with sauerkraut, grilled onion, Slovenian sausage and cheddar cheese. Wings, which are available in traditional or boneless varieties, are served in 15 different sauces. Ten wings are $12 for boneless, or $13 for the traditional bone-in.

There’s a lot of beefy options on the menu, from the HOF Reubenator ($11), with “corned beef made in Cleveland topped with swiss cheese, sauerkraut, creamy 1000 island dressing on toasted rye bread." Also on the menu are the Ribeye Philly ($13); Steakhouse Wrap ($10); and a built-your-way smash burger ($10 to $14, depending on size).
