Stark County Primary Ballot: List of candidates, measures and polling locations

May 19—DICKINSON — The ballot for the June 14 primary election in Stark County is three pages long, with several important local races and two measures. This article will not feature candidates in races who are running uncontested, or in races featuring fewer or equal number of candidates to allotted votes.

In a political party primary election in North Dakota, voters may only cast a vote for the candidates of a single political party. The ballot contains two political parties; one in each section. Stark County Auditor Karen Richard reminds voters that should they cast a vote in more than one political party's section, the ballot will be rejected. However, all votes on the "No Party" and "Measures" will still be counted.

The Early Voting Center will be at the Prairie Hills Mall, located at 1681 Third Ave W, in Dickinson. Voting dates and times are June 6 through 10, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The final day for the early voting center casting will be June 11, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Absentee Voting Center will be at the Stark County Courthouse, located at 51 3rd St E, in Dickinson.

There are four election day polling locations for the primary election in Stark County.

The Prairie Hills Mall, located at 1681 Third Ave W, in Dickinson; the Henry Biesiot Activity Center, located at 398 State Ave, in Dickinson; The Belfield City Hall, located at 208 Main Street North, in Belfield; and the Richardton City Hall, located at 111 North Ave West, in Richardton.

Election day is Tuesday, June 14 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

For United States Senator, the Republican candidates are Riley Kuntz and John Hoeven. For North Dakota State Senate for District 39, the Republican candidates are Andrew Gene (Kord) Kordonowy and Greg Kessel. For North Dakota State Representative for District 39, the Republican candidates are Thea Lee, John Pretzer, Lyn James, Keith Kempenich and Mike Schatz. For Secretary of State, the Republican candidates are Michael Howe and Marvin Lepp.

The lone contested Democratic-NPL contest is for United States Senator, the candidates are Katrina Christiansen and Michael J. Steele.

For County Commissioner for District 4, the Non-Party candidates are Paul D. Clarys and Carla Arthaud. For County Auditor and Treasurer, the Non-Party candidates are Karen Richard and Monica Kram. For the Belfield City Commission, the Non-Party candidates are Roger Decker, Cindy Ewoniuk, Jesse Mohler, Aaron Yourk and Kyle Michels. For Dickinson School Board, the Non-Party candidates are Michelle Orton, Dustin Anderson, Kimberly L. Schwartz and Jason Rodakowski. For South Heart School Board, the Non-Party candidates are Kammy Tschetter, Lynae Harper (Rambousek), Mason Eberts, Jarrod M. Steffan and Joshua Wagner. For Richardton/Taylor School Board, the Non-Party candidates are Damian Paulson, Jody Hoff, Duane Zent, Jessica Olson and Jessica Rixen.

The first measure on the ballot is a Belfield question that posits, "Shall the City of Belfield publish the minutes of the city council meeting in the newspaper?" The options are, "Yes, means you approve the measure as summarized above," and "No, means you reject the measure as summarized above."

The second measure on the ballot is a South Heart School question that posits, "Shall the South Heart School Board publish school board meeting minutes in a newspaper of general circulation for the next two years?" The options are, "Yes, means you approve the measure as summarized above," and "No, means you reject the measure as summarized above."
