Stark County residents can sign up for a free turkey via Thanksgiving Baskets Downtown

CANTON ‒ Thanksgiving Baskets Downtown, an ecumenical holiday food giveaway for Stark County residents, will accept applications at the following locations:

  • Oct. 15 − 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 425 Cleveland Ave. SW, and the J. Babe Stern Center, 2628 13th St. SW.

  • Oct. 18 − 6 to 8 p.m., St. Paul's Episcopal Church 425 Cleveland Ave. SW.

  • Oct. 19 − 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Canton Fresh Market, 3412 Harmont Ave. NE (Former James S. Thomas United Methodist Church).

  • Oct. 20 − Noon to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m., Stark Fresh, 321 Cherry Ave NE.

  • Oct. 26 − 8 to 10 a.m., Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas St. W.

The giveaway is for Stark County residents only. Bring proof of your current address and a photo ID.

Thanksgiving turkeys will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Memorial Civic Center portico at 1101 Market Ave. N (enter from Cleveland Avenue N).

Families must already be registered to receive a basket. Bring bring your photo ID.

More than 1,200 households were assisted in 2021.
