Carryout Swiss steak dinner

BEACH CITY – Beach City American Legion Hall Post 549, 125 Third Ave. NE, will have a carryout Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday or until food runs out.

Napoleon Dynamite,’ cast at Palace

CANTON – The Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, will show the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" at 6 p.m. May 22, followed by a moderated discussion with fan-favorite cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Efren Ramirez (Pedro).

Doors open at 5 p.m. Admission is $25 to $35. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $125, which include a premium seat for the show, a signed poster, and a meet and greet with both men. The meet and greet will be pre-show. All seats are reserved.

Final weekend for 'Ghost: The Musical'

CANTON – "Ghost: The Musical," presented by the Canton Players Guild, wraps up this weekend at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. May 22 on the Fry Theatre Stage, 1001 Market Ave N.

Concert for First Responders

CANTON – The Concert for First Responders will be Saturday at Centennial Plaza.

The free concert features American Idol finalist and Louisville native Lauren Mascitti from 8 to 10 p.m. and the Buck Naked Band from 6 to 8 p.m.

Seat Belt Challenge is Saturday

CANTON – Preventing fatal vehicle crashes and near misses is the goal behind the 18th annual Seat Belt Challenge, taking place Saturday at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The event allows area teenagers to learn the importance of seat belts and responsible driving. Teens, parents and family members are invited to the free, fun event. Registration is at 9 a.m., and the event starts at 10 a.m.

Students from area high schools can compete in the Seat Belt Challenge. Each four-student team competes in a timed obstacle race, which includes buckling up in an Ohio Army National Guard Humvee and wearing "fatal vision goggles" to simulate alcohol impairment.

The Seat Belt Challenge includes other activities such as the vertical jump challenge, K9 demonstrations and free cotton candy and popcorn for participants. Q92 WDJQ radio will broadcast live. All attendees will be entered into a raffle.

Big Band dinner dance Thursday

CANTON TWP. – The 13-piece Savoy Big Band will perform jazz standards and accompany singer Peggy Coyle at Tozzi’s on 12th, 4210 12th St. NW, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Admission is $15 at the door. Included with paid admission is a $5 discount on a dinner entree. Reservations are suggested; call 330-477-7515

North Canton Craft Beer Festival

GREEN – The annual North Canton Craft Beer Festival will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the MAPS Air Museum, 2260 International Parkway.

More than 18 local breweries will be at the event. Each attendee will receive a custom sampling glass and 20 tickets for 20 tastes. Tickets are VIP, $75; pre-sale, $50; designated driver, $10. VIP ticket-holders can enter the event at 4 p.m.

Movie at amphitheater

JACKSON TWP. – The movie "Sing 2" will be shown at the Jackson Township North Park Amphitheater, 7454 Community Parkway NW at 7 p.m. Friday. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Go fishing

JACKSON TWP. – Jackson Township Fishing Day, for ages 15 and younger, will be from 8 to 10 a.m. May 28 at North Park Pond, 7660 Fulton Drive NW.

Car show in Louisville

LOUISVILLE –The Louisville Cruise N Dine car show will be from 2 to 7 p.m. May 22 in downtown Louisville. Registration is free at the Louisville Fraternal Order of Eagles, 306 W. Main St.

The first 100 vehicles registered will receive dash plaques. Music, door prizes and food will be available.

Magnolia to flush hydrants

MAGNOLIA – The Water Department will flush hydrants this week starting Monday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Residents can expect some water discoloration after the hydrants have been flushed.

MEYERS LAKE – Stark County Youth Led Prevention will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Meyers Lake Village Hall, 1600 North Park Ave. NW. Community members, families and children of any age are welcome.

Stark County Youth Led Prevention is a youth-led, adult-guided leadership development group that focuses on promoting and celebrating healthy lifestyles. The open house will feature activities, food, games, raffles and information about community resources.
