Canal Fulton library plans programs

CANAL FULTON – The Canal Fulton Public Library, 154 E. Market St., has scheduled the following programs. To register, call 330-854-4148 or stop by the information desk.

  • 6 p.m. Tuesday: Marvel Cinematic Universe Trivia Party. Test your knowledge of the Marvel universe at this all-ages event. Snacks and prizes will be provided. Registration is appreciated, but not required.

  • 6 p.m. Thursday: Cricut Valentine's Gift Jar. Using the library’s Cricut, create a filled treat jar to be given away to someone special. For grades K-5. Registration is required.

  • 11 a.m. Saturday: Adult and Teen Planner Club. Learn about bullet journals and how to create these journal/planner hybrids. For ages 13 and up, unless accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

  • 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13: Teen Anime Club. Enjoy anime and snacks at this teens-and-tweens-only event. Registration is appreciated, but not required.

Orchestra, singer to present concert

CANTON – The Canton Symphony Orchestra will present "Bethany Joy Meets the Symphony," part of the Divergent Sound Series, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Zimmermann Symphony Center, 2331 17th St. NW.

Bethany Joy is an indie soul/jazz singer-songwriter from Cleveland. Her original music spans genres such as indie, soul, jazz, blues, and rhythm and blues.

Stark Vintage Market is Saturday

CANTON – Stark Vintage Market, an antiques collectible and artisan market, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Stark County Fairgrounds, 305 Wertz Ave. NW.

The Stark Vintage Market is held on the second Saturday in February, April, October and December. The event will feature a wide variety of antiques, collectibles, artisan and repurposed household goods – everything from furniture to pottery to vintage clothing to jewelry to retro toys and comics. Admission is $3. Children younger than 5 are admitted free.

Artist’s reception Saturday at Massillon Museum

MASSILLON − The Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way E, will host a reception for artist Jordi Rowe and her Studio M exhibition, "Blueing of the Light: The Gloaming," from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Rowe, a painter, is a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Her artwork primarily focuses on nature, sky and water. She often integrates elements of growing up in the Canadian Rockies and Big Sky Country. A dozen of her paintings will fill the museum’s contemporary art space through Feb. 26.

Fundraiser at comedy club Friday

MASSILLON – Krackpots Comedy Club, 14 Lincoln Way W, will present Rick Gene in a fundraiser for Cancer Assistance Support Team at 8 p.m. Friday.

Library hosts 'The Underground Railroad in Ohio' author

MASSILLON − A meet-the-author program for Kathy Schulz will be in the Massillon Public Library’s main campus auditorium at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Schulz’s latest book is “The Underground Railroad in Ohio,” which details how thousands of fugitive slaves seeking freedom traveled the Underground Railroad through Ohio.

Schulz, a retired librarian, grew up on a family farm in Columbiana County that predated the Civil War, surrounded by Underground Railroad lore; her birthplace of Salem was an important Quaker abolitionist town.

Coffee with a Cop event is Thursday

MASSILLON − The Stark County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Coffee with a Cop event at 8 a.m. Thursday at BellStores, 108 Lake Ave. NE.

The community is invited to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know the members of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office better. The Coffee with a Cop program is a national initiative.

History Discussion Group to meet

MASSILLON − The Massillon Museum’s History Discussion Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in the Fred F. Silk Community Room in the museum’s lower level. Moderator Chris Craft will lead a discussion about favorite childhood toys.

No reservations are necessary. The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month. Attendance is free and open to everyone; new participants are always welcome, whether for every session or only when the topic especially interests them.

Liebermann’s pastries and coffee are available for a donation. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and nearby city lots.

Chili Open Golf Classic is Feb. 18

NORTH CANTON − The North Canton Rotary’s 26th annual Chili Open Golf Classic will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 18 at Arrowhead Golf Club in North Canton.

The event will include unlimited golf, food and beverages for all guests, a reverse raffle with a “winner take all” prize up to $2,500, and a silent auction. Tickets can be purchased online at www.Rotarychiliopen.com.
