University of Mount Union plans free Community Equity Summit
ALLIANCE − The University of Mount Union will hold its inaugural Alliance for Community and Equity Summit from 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 on the university campus.
The event will feature presentations and workshops from more than 20 people from higher education institutions and nonprofits.

Last Friday events in Alliance
ALLIANCE − The Last Friday theme this month is royalty. It will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday from 52 E. Main St. to 501 E. Main St.
Wear your outlandish hat or dress as your favorite royal character, Queen Bee, Queen Poppy or Princess Leah. Activities and events include shopping at Troll Hole Museum and Mac's Attic, Balloon Castle at Celebration Destination, Mad Hatter Tea Party at Jupiter, swing dance steps at Jupiter Event Center, Rodman Bookmobile storytelling, food drive at Clothed in Righteousness, music inside Thebes Event Center, and Sister Social Restaurant Tea drink specials and treats. Vendors and nonprofits set up for free.
Join the Scavenger Hunt looking for the crown in each shop. Pick up your map at any shop. Find the crown in every shop and turn in your map for chance to win a prize basket at 8 p.m. Parking is available on Arch, East Main, and Linden Street and behind the 300 block of E. Main St.
Library offers programs for teens and tweens

Teen Anime Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Anime fans in grades 6 through 12 can enjoy anime and snacks. Registration is appreciated, but not required.
Asian Culture Club will meet at 6:40 p.m. Monday. Explore various topics throughout the year in this new club focused on Asian culture. This program is 10 minutes after Teen Anime Club and is teen focused but open to everyone. This month’s topic is anime history and genres, and participants will use the Kahoot! app so bring a personal device to participate. Registration is appreciated, but not required.
Teen Pizza and Game Night will begin at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 30. Teens in grades 6 to 12 will enjoy pizza and some new games. Registration is appreciated but not required.
Museum to celebrate McKinley’s birthday
CANTON − The McKinley Museum, 800 McKinley Monument Drive NW, will host McKinley’s Birthday Celebration on Saturday.
Each year, the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum celebrates the anniversary of the president’s birth (Jan. 29, 1843) on the last Saturday of January, a tradition that has been observed for over a century. The wreath-laying ceremony will be at noon outdoors, weather permitting. McKinley Day activities will include Civil War reenactors, special shows in Discover World, and tours in the McKinley Gallery.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the museum will have family-friendly activities related to presidential pets. There will also be a coffee tasting with local roasters Cherry Blend Coffee.
The museum encourages visitors to donate pet supplies for partnering organizations in January. Donate until Jan. 26 and receive $1 off admission price (limit one discount per person). 'Oppenheimer,' 'Barbie' and Carrington at the Palace this week
CANTON − The Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, will show the award-nominated films “Oppenheimer” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, and “Barbie” at 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $7 at the door. Doors open a half an hour before showtime.
Comedian, actor and singer Rodney Carrington will perform at 7 p.m. Friday. The show is recommended for mature audiences. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Book Page Roses will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Sharan Paul, owner of Busy Work Recycled Art & Craft, will teach how to make book page roses. Refreshments and supplies will be provided.
Josh Grossman will present “Rekindle Your Spark and Protect Your Mental Health” from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 29. Learn about difficulties after retirement, benefits of being active, protective factors that can help improve quality of life and finding a new sense of purpose through volunteering after retirement. Applications being taken for craft and artisan show
NORTH CANTON − The North Canton Lions Club is accepting applications for its Spring Craft and Artisan Show from 9 to 3 p.m. March 16 at North Canton Hoover High School.

Marvel at the Moon Hike at Quail Hollow Park from 6 to 7 p.m. Learn about moon phases and how this satellite affects our daily lives. The program is free, but registration is required.
Adult Archery at Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Learn about the equipment, proper shooting technique, and safety before spending some time working on your skills. All equipment will be provided, and classes are taught by USA Archery-certified staff. Participants must be at least 18 years old to sign up. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $5 for in-county residents and $7 for out-of-county residents.
