Stark Parks has announced a series of free activities at facilities around the county.

TUESDAY – Learn about animals residing at Stark Parks with the weekly You Pick 2sday Wildlife series. Each event will showcase a different wildlife resident. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, meet two of Stark Parks' owls, Grimble & Owlea, while participants explore why Great Horned Owls take everything so seriously. Afterward, join in a short ID hike during which participants will identify what they find and upload it to iNaturalist. Meet on the front porch of the Wildlife Conservation Center, 800 Genoa Ave. NW in Perry Township. Dress for the weather, as the program will be outside. In the event of inclement weather, it will be indoors.

THURSDAY – Canal Fulton Community Band will perform a variety of patriotic concert band pieces to celebrate Independence Day at Sippo Lake Park’s north entrance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Bring a blanket or chair and set up around the back patio of the Exploration Gateway in Perry Township. Concert will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather. Flags will be posted by Operation Flags of Freedom along the driveway from June 30 to July 6.

SATURDAY – Take part in a pollinator hike at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fry Family Park. During a fun-filled morning at the park, participants will learn about butterflies, why they are important and the threats many of these species face. Registration is required at starkparks.com. The Visitors Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to explore and complete a craft.
