Stark women to discuss career paths, advice in Women's History Month panel
Stark Library and Women's Impact Inc. are hosting a panel discussion with Stark County women about their careers and experiences in business to celebrate Women's History Month.
The event, "Women of Tomorrow: Stark County and Beyond," will take place on March 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Canton Cultural Center.
Stephanie Cargill, communications director at Stark Library, said the discussion is designed to highlight successful women in Stark County and inspire teenage girls in the area to "use the women who are established in this community, who have grown up in this community, who are backed in this community as inspiration for them."
The conversation will focus on the panelists' history and career paths, and the challenges they have overcome as women in business.
Panelists include Rachel Hagemeier, president and CEO of the Canton Symphony Orchestra; Liz Hand, a certified financial plannerat Pleasant Wealth; Carrilyn Long, program manager at the Ohio Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation; Elaine Russell-Reolfi, CEO of CommQuest Services; and Stephanie Werren, vice president of Leadership Programs at Leadership Stark County.
"We want to represent women across all kinds of career paths," Cargill said.
The library held its first Women of Tomorrow in 2022. Cargill said one of last year's panelists, Christy Williams, owner of Little Chunk of Goodness, a home-based bakery in North Canton, told them after the event that it was the best evening of her life.
"These are all women who currently reside in Stark County," she said, "but many of them chose to leave Stark County and then come back. So I think that what we want people to know is that Stark County is a great place to be, a great place to live, a great place to raise your family, and a great place to have a long career as a woman."
The discussion will be led by Maureen Ater, vice president of marketing and development for Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio.
