Topsail's Carolina Coria named StarNews Athlete of the Week

Bringing in 65% of this week's fan vote, Topsail girls basketball player Carolina Coria is the StarNews Athlete of the Week.

After making the challenging return to the court this season, Coria is one of Topsail's leading scorers, averaging 10.9 points per game. The senior was nominated for her 17-point performance against New Hanover, which saw her shoot 71% from the field.

Most recently, Coria put up 12 points as the Pirates pushed past Ashley to take a firm hold on the number two spot in the Mideastern Conference.

Carolina Coria, Topsail: The Pirates senior shot 71% from the field and scored 17 points in Topsail's win over New Hanover.

Jada Simpson, Laney: The senior continued her hot streak with an 18-point performance in the Buccaneers' 59-22 win over South Brunswick on Friday.

Myron Mckoy, Trask: Mckoy's 18 points helped Trask cruise to a 64-50 win over West Columbus.
