Stars of the Day: Bridgewater-Raynham girls swimming earns big win over Middleboro

MIDDLEBORO — It was an eventful Senior Day for the Bridgewater-Raynham girls swimming team.

The Trojans bested Middleboro 100-86 on the road in non-league action to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Junior Jessie McNeil won both the 500 meter freestyle and 100 meter breaststroke, while senior Lily Martin won the 200 meter individual medley and 100 meter freestyle, senior Kiley George won the 200 meter freestyle and 100 meter backstroke, senior Abby Szumita won the 50 yard freestyle and sophomore Eva Chaves won the 100 meter butterfly.

The relay team of George, McNeil, Martin and Chaves won the 200 meter medley, while the relay team of freshman Riley Gillespie, Szumita, McNeil and Chaves won the 200 meter freestyle and the relay team of sophomore Madison Maltby, junior Sammy Bean, Szumita and George won the 400 meter freestyle.

BOYS SWIMMING

Middleboro 97, Bridgewater-Raynham 82

The Trojans suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Sachems on the road in non-league action and are now 5-1 overall.

Junior Jack Werb won both the 200 meter individual medley and 100 meter breaststroke while freshman Cooper Hammond won the 500 meter freestyle and freshman Ethan Ourique won the 100 meter backstroke.

The relay team of Hammond, freshman Cole Bridges, Werb and Ourique won the 400 meter freestyle.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Diman 58, Bristol-Plymouth 45

The Craftsmen fell to the Bengals at home in MAC action and are now 6-7 on the season.

Junior Tucker Bumila led the way for B-P with 18 points while senior Paul Marshall had 10.

Wareham 63, Dighton-Rehoboth 53

The Falcons fell to the Vikings at home in SCC action and are now 7-4 overall.

Ryan Ouellette led the way for D-R with 16 points while Kyle Mello had 14.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dighton-Rehoboth 55, Wareham 15

The Falcons beat the Vikings 55-15 in South Coast Conference action to improve to 6-5 on the season.

Sophomore Lucy Latour led the way for D-R with 19 points while junior Ella Damon had 12.

Diman 66, Bristol-Plymouth 43

The Lady Craftsmen fell to the Bengals on the road in Mayflower League action and are now 3-10 on the season.

Senior Megan Faria led the way for B-P with 27 points while sophomore Gianna Viola had eight.

HOCKEY

Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 8, Tri-County 0

The Hawks shut out the Cougars in MAC action and are now 8-2 on the season.

Senior forward Jim Cooper, senior forward/defenseman Keagan Bunker, junior forward Bobby Manning, junior defenseman Kacey Brown, senior forward/defenseman Nolan Sturdevant, senior defenseman Matt English, junior defenseman John Whalen and junior defenseman Trevor Lodge all found the back of the net for the co-op while sophomore goalie Dylan Quinn made 14 saves to earn his first career shutout.
