Stars of the Day: Somerset Berkley hockey gets seventh straight win, beating Bourne
FALL RIVER — It was another sterling performance by the unbeaten Somerset Berkley hockey team on Wednesday.
The Raiders remain undefeated on the season after blanking league opponent Bourne, 5-0, at Driscoll Ice Arena.
Luke Gauvin led SB (7-0) with a goal and an assist. Other goal scorers were Josh Pacheco, Nate Mello, Matt Costa and Dylan Messier.
Max Aguiar had three assists in the win. Nolan Botelho and Brayden Pimental also registered an assist.
Goalie Brandon Silva made 17 saves in net for the shutout victory.
The Raiders hosts unbeaten Dighton-Rehoboth/ Seekonk on Saturday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Westport 62, Greater New Bedford 53
The unbeaten Wildcats basketball team won their ninth straight, beating Greater New Bedford at home.
Hunter Brodeur and Domanick Vitorino each had a team-high 15 points for Westport (9-0). Jayden Zuber also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Cameron Leary and Owen Boudria had eight and seven points, respectively.
The Wildcats forced 19 turnovers. Brodeur made six steals, Owen Boudria collected five steals and Ben Boudria had four steals.
Westport travels to West Bridgewater on Friday.
Bishop Connolly 75, Holbrook 62
The Cougars captured their second straight game, beating Holbrook on the road.
Freshman Alex Krynicki led the way for the Cougars (2-1; 1-0 in MAC) with 26 points. Eighth grader Jah Stephenson chipped in with 15 points while freshman Brendan King added 13 points.
Senior Mason Humphrey finished with 10 points in the win.
Connolly travels to Avon on Friday.
Diman 76, Tri-County 42
The Bengals beat Mayflower League Large opponent Tri County.
Colby Tetrault led Diman (2-6; 2-1 in MAC) with 16 points.
Ezra Cote finished with 13 points and Bobby Soares chipped in with 12 points in the victory.
St. John Paul II 68, Atlantis Charter 36
The Tritons lost their game to St. John's Paul II.
Josh Holmes led Atlantis Charter with a team-high 12 points
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Somerset Berkley 51, Greater New Bedford 41
The Lady Raiders defeated South Coast Conference opponent Greater New Bedford at home.
Gabriella Nugent paved the way for SB (5-4) with a team-high 15 points. Allie Powers finished with 12 points.
Lily Gentile had nine points and played strong defense. Mia Gentile finished with six points.
The Raiders travel to Bourne on Friday.

The Lady Cougars won a close game with Hollbrook at home.
Maggie Pabst led the way for Connolly (2-1) with 22 points.
Hannah Anselmo chipped in with 15 points.
