Stars of the Day: Taunton wrestling tops King Philip, with seven wrestlers notching wins
TAUNTON — The Taunton wrestling team eked out a big Hockomock League win Wednesday over King Philip.
The Tigers defeated the Warriors 40-39 to improve to 12-4 on the season.
Logan Frank (220) secured the win with a first period pin. Mike Leskoski (106), Ryan Jones (113), Brandon Mendes (120), Xavier Sandoval (138), Christian Balmain (160) and Elijah Prophete (170) also won their respective matches.
Tri-County 39, Bristol-Plymouth 34
The Craftsmen fell to the Cougars on the road in Mayflower League action and are now 15-3 on the season.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Westwood 75, Bridgewater-Raynham 66
The Trojans fell to the Wolverines in non-league action and are now 6-5 on the season.
Junior Luke Barry and senior John McClaren both led B-R with 14 points apiece, while senior Matt Rein had 11.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Southeastern 43, Bristol-Plymouth 37
The Lady Craftsmen fell to the Hawks in MAC action and are now 3-9 on the season.
Senior Megan Faria led B-P with 22 points while junior Kaylee Baker had 10.
HOCKEY
King Philip 3, Taunton 2
The Tigers fell to the Warriors in Hockomock action at the Aleixo Arena and are now 2-7-1.
Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth 7, South Shore Tech 1
The Hawks defeated the Vikings in MAC action and are now 7-2 on the season.
Sophomore defenseman Thomas Leger, senior forward Jim Cooper, senior defenseman Matt English, junior forward Bobby Manning, senior forward/defenseman Nolan Sturdevant, junior forward John Whalen and junior forward Dalton Ghelfi all scored for the co-op while senior goalie Ryan LeBaron made 15 saves.
Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk 7, Attleboro 1
After going down 1-0, the Falcons scored seven unanswered goals to beat the Bombardiers in non-league action at New England Sports Village.
Junior forward Liam Fecteau led the way for DRS with two goals and an assist, earning his 100th career point, while senior defenseman Ryan McCarthy, senior forward Devin Dailey, sophomore forward Sebastian Rebelo, junior defenseman Evan Fasteson and junior defenseman Ethan Goudreau also found the back of the net.
