Stars & Stripes: the classic car show show celebrating all things American
With up to 2,500 vehicles taking part, the Classic American Stars & Stripes Show this weekend is one of the biggest American car shows in the UK and, for the last 30 years, has gathered together the owners of some of the best cars, jeeps, trucks and even RVs (that's the huge Recreational Vehicles, or what we might call motorhomes, that our US cousins favour).
The family-friendly extravaganza, which place at Tatton Park near Knutsford in Cheshire on July 6 and 7, will feature dream machines from every decade of US motoring; Studebakers and similar gargantuan saloons of the 1930s, muscle cars such as Dodge Chargers, Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Corvettes, not to mention the "fins and chrome" 1950s decadence of Cadillac.
There will also be customised hot rods, pumped-up pick-ups, military trucks and big rigs from Kenworth and Peterbilt, along with a whole load of motorcycles from Harley-Davidson and Indian.
As well as an abundance of live acts, there will be a Wild West shoot-out, childrens’ rides, live music, radio-controlled cars, a fairground and much more.
Stars & Stripes will also be teeming with specialist traders, parts suppliers and jumble stands offering missing pieces of restoration and maintenance puzzles at bargain prices, automobilia and much more.
The Lancaster Insurance Classic American’s Stars & Stripes show will also be hosting Round 3 of the Kingstown Shipping & RH Insurance Car of the Year competition, the UK’s only American concours competition - its grand final will be held at the Classic Motor Show, NEC, Birmingham over the weekend of November 8-10.
The judges will be looking for one very special American car or truck, either in pristine original condition or sympathetically restored to stock, to be the heat winner.
As well as the all the attractions of the show, Tatton Park also features landscaped gardens, a working farm, Tudor old hall and more than 1,000 acres of deer park to explore.
