Start dates released for Lafayette Parish students
Students across Lafayette Parish will return to school in the next few weeks, though schools or groups of students may have different start dates.
Here’s a breakdown of when school is starting for schools across the parish:
Lafayette Parish School System
The new year for the Lafayette Parish School System officially begins Aug. 10 through Aug. 14, but only certain groups of students will attend each day.
The district is doing an A/B Day start for the first two days of school for first- through fifth-grade students. Kindergarten start days will be split between boys and girls. Here’s when each grade will report to their school for the first two days:
Kindergarten boys: Thursday, Aug. 10
Kindergarten girls: Friday, Aug. 11
First through fifth grade, odd-numbered home address: Thursday, Aug. 10
First through fifth grade, even-number homes address: Friday, Aug. 11
Eighth grade: Thursday, Aug. 10
Seventh grade: Friday, Aug. 11
11th grade: Thursday, Aug. 10
12th grade: Thursday, Aug. 10
10th grade: Friday, Aug. 11
Sixth grade: Monday, Aug. 14
Ninth grade: Monday, Aug. 14
All kindergarten through fifth-grade students will go to school Aug. 14. Pre-kindergarten assessments run Aug. 15 through Aug. 17, while all K-12 students attend school regularly beginning Aug. 15. All LPSS students begin attending Aug. 18.
Episcopal School of Acadiana
Classes for first through 12th grade begin Aug. 16, while pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will have half-class half-days Aug. 21 and 22. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten fully begin Aug. 23.
Ascension Episcopal School
Ascension Episcopal School has half days for the lower, middle and upper schools Aug. 9. The three schools have a full day Aug. 10. Pre-kindergarten begins with a half-day Aug. 16, then has a full day Aug. 17.
Acadiana Renaissance Charter School
Kindergarten through fifth grade for Acadiana Renaissance Charter School begins Aug. 10, while other grades have staggered start dates. Ninth through 11th grade also begin Aug. 10, while sixth through eighth begin Aug. 11.
Seniors have a sunrise orientation day from 6 a.m. to noon Aug. 9.
St. Thomas More Catholic High School
Ninth grade students will have a partial day Aug. 10, with a 1:30 p.m. dismissal. All other grades begin Aug. 11.
Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School
Students with last names beginning with A through L will go to school Aug. 9, while students with last names starting with M through Z attend Aug. 10. All students attend Aug. 11.
Cathedral-Carmel School
First through eighth grade students and students in the REC program begin Aug. 10. Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and TREC boys attend Aug. 11, while girls attend Aug. 14. All pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and TREC students attend Aug. 15.
