Get out the Shakespeare Festival

The Madeline Park Family Shakespeare Festival will feature the upcoming production of "As You Like It," Friday and Saturday and Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Madeline Park, 900 E. Baltimore, between Baltimore and Cincinnati. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a family market with vendors selling crafts, vintage clothing, teas and plants. The play will begin at 6:45 p.m. Admission is free and patrons are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, lawn chairs and snacks.

Learn about drones and solar-powered energy at Space Festival

The El Paso Airport will host a 2022 El Paso Space Festival event, Sustainability in Space," from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at the airport's runway plaza, 6701 Convair, in short-term parking lot. There will be educational table covering topics like food, transportation, solar and human-powered energy sources, drones and robots. There will be music, food trucks and entertainment. Free. You're 'Not Dead Yet'! Get creative

Have ideas that aren’t going anywhere? Get out of that rut Saturday at Toma Gallery and Studios, 210 Poplar St., as artist Brian Anthony Holt presents an open workshop, “Not Dead Yet,” from noon to 4 p.m. where you can learn to map your ideas and make connections within your work. It's particularly useful for beginners or people who just want to start creating. There is a $5 suggested donation.

Check out Tale of Giants and a giant art robot

Enjoy a multisensory feast Saturday as Diego “Robot” Martinez adds a performance by Tale of Giants on Saturday to his extended “Peace Love Dope Death” exhibit at his new art space, Cosmic & Grounded, at Buddy’s Beer Barn, 10150 Montana. Admission is $10 at the door. Javier Martinez, fresh from a tour of the United Kingdom, will perform as Tale of Giants from 8 to 9 p.m. While you’re at it, check out the giant robot made out of refrigerators at the venue. “Peace Love Dope Death” will be open from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Oct. 1, Oct. 7-8 and Oct. 14-15. Admission is $10 for one entry on the day of your choice. From 8 to 9 p.m. Oct. 8, there will be an acoustic set by Gaby Fuentes. There will be a three-hour set by Feline Fox from 8 to 11 p.m. Oct. 14. Tickets for the day of the Tale of Giants show may be purchased online at https://diegorobot.ticketleap.com/tale-of-giants/ for $10 and a $1.50 fee.

Celebrate the Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta

The El Paso Zoo will be hosting day one of the Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Those who attend will receive a free Chihuahuan Desert Nature Club sticker at the front gate ticket booth or at the El Paso Zoological Society Office. General admission to the zoo is $12 for adults, $9 for teens, and $7.50 for children, ages 2-12.

La Union Corn Maze opens

The popular maze, which will have an alien theme including spaceships, will be open Saturday, Sept. 24-Nov. 6 at 1101 Highway 28 in Anthony, New Mexico. The property also features a playground and picnic area, and 16 different outdoor activities.

The maze will be open 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. It will be closed to the public Monday through Thursday.

Ticket prices range from $13 to $16, plus tax, for ages 6 and up, depending on the day. Discounts for tickets purchased online.

Benito Juárez monument unveiling

Members of the XII Travelers Memorial of the Southwest are excited to invite the community to the unveiling of the Benito Juárez monument ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Chamizal National Memorial. The ceremony will be followed by an informal panel discussion with distinguished guests on the 1963 Chamizal Treaty-Lessons for Today, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Spanish Garden. An outdoor fiesta with entertainment will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. People should consider bringing water bottles, chairs and blankets and wearing brimmed hats to enjoy the afternoon. Free.
