Children’s events

Beyond Books: A Preschool Discover Program (In-Person), Monday, Jan. 10 and Thursday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. Beyond Books is for children ages three to five. Each session will focus on a different subject. Register for the Monday series to discover science topics and for the Thursday series to explore arts and crafts. We will start with books, then go beyond with hands-on activities to explore these topics further.

Big Kid Storytime (In-Person), Monday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. Kids in grades K-2 are invited to join us for a storytime with more in-depth, challenging picture books.

Come and Play! (In-Person), Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. Families are invited to join us for an open playtime. Come have fun with your kids and make new friends.

Matter of Fact Book Club (In-Person or Virtual), Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. Hello history buffs and lifelong learners! The Matter of Fact Book Club is dedicated to non-fiction reads, exploring history, science, essays, and biography. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month in the Lecture Hall from 10 to 11. This month we are reading Eight Flavors by Sarah Lohman. Pick up a copy at the front desk or listen to it as an audiobook through Hoopla. Teen events

Dungeons and Dragons for Teens (Virtual), Sunday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. Adventure with our Dungeons and Dragons groups for teens! The game meets every other Sunday at 2 p.m. In this group, our players face off with scheming villains and elemental monsters in the Princes of the Apocalypse campaign setting. No experience or materials are required. All skill levels are welcome. You do not need to have attended previous sessions to enjoy your first game. Registration on our event page is required to receive a link to the virtual session.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) (In-Person), Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. TAB is a group of 7 -12 graders who are interested in shaping the library’s programs and services aimed at middle and high-school students. TAB members attend monthly meetings in order to share their ideas, help to plan future events/ services for teens, and work toward making the library a teen-friendly space in our community, and help to choose teen materials for the library. Meetings also include snacks and fun group activities alongside discussions. We'd love to see you and hear your ideas! For questions about TAB, please e-mail Emily at e.fortin@dover.nh.gov.

Adult events

Creativity Corner (In-Person), Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. What are you making? Come share your creations with others. Talk about why you create, your process, share ideas, get help with challenges you are facing, and be inspired.

Dover Public Library hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Masks are strongly encouraged inside the building.
