Start your weekend with a laugh, go dancing or have family fun at these weekend events

We've turned the calendar to February and while it seems there isn't much snow in the air, there's going to be plenty of love.

Already, Valentine's Day-themed events are starting to pop up leaving time to make plans ahead of time and make sure you don't forget.

If you're not ready to celebrate Valentine's Day, don't worry you'll find plenty of opportunities to enjoy and weekend and get out of the house.

Check out these offerings and start making plans for the weekend.

Go dancing

Put on your favorite red dress to celebrate Go Red for Women Day and head over to Common Fence Point on Saturday from 6-10 p.m. to raise funds for the American Heart Association.

Guests will dance to the sounds of the New Providence Big Band, sample hors d'oeuvres and canapes, mocktails and cocktails.

Live choir music

On Sunday at 5 p.m. the Professional Choristers of The Choir School of Newport County, joined by students from St. George’s School, Salve Regina University, and adult singers from Newport’s Episcopal churches, will sing a Festival Choral Evensong of Gratitude in Epiphany, directed by Dr. Barry Rose OBE, at St. George’s School Chapel, 372 Purgatory Road, Middletown.

Works performed will include A grateful Heart by Mary Plumstead, Evening canticles by Joanna ForbesL’Estrange, and an anthem by Dr. Rose, God be with you till we meet again, along with organ musicand three congregational hymns.

Catch a comedy act

Newport Vineyards is hosting Barrel of Laughs, Dinner & A Show! on Friday from 6:30-9 p.m.

Guest can enjoy an evening of food, wine, beer, and a barrel of laughs as host and comedian Jeremy Furtado welcomes comedians from around the region.

The dinner menu is pre-set, presented in live action chef stations.

Or head over to the Hotel Viking on Friday to benefit the charity, Give Kids the World. Enjoy a night out with 90 minutes of 18+ adult professional standup comedy through Funny4Funds, complete with cash bar and concessions, in the Bellevue Ballroom. The event will also include raffle prizes, a signature cocktail, and a 50/50 drawing with proceeds donated as well to Give Kids the World.

Sensory-Friendly Valentine's Day Party

The Bierman Autism Centers East Bay Center will hold a Sensory-Friendly Valentine's Day Party at its location at 91 Main Street, Suite 115, in Warren, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.

There will be a variety of Valentine's Day-themed crafts and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Plus, a photo booth so you can snap some silly photos with your loved ones.
