Greg Schiano returned to Rutgers in December 2019 and began the process of rebuilding the Scarlet Knights for the second time.

So far, the progress is showing. In his first season during the pandemic-shortened Big Ten schedule, Rutgers went 3-6. The Scarlet Knights improved to 5-8 in 2021 and are off a 3-1 start this season. But the lone loss came against Iowa, 27-10, in Week 4.
