State audit outlines Sacramento school district’s financial situation

The Sacramento City Unified School District has not adequately addressed its financial crisis and is close to insolvency, a recently released audit said. The state audit released Tuesday said the district has not controlled costs in three key areas: salaries, employee benefits and special education. Since fiscal year 2016-17, the district’s expenditures have exceeded its ongoing revenue by $9 million to $25.9 million each year, the audit said. Get the full story in the video above.
