Hamlin girls lead NEC, LCC squads; Sioux Valley, Hamlin top All-LCC boys

State Class A champion Hamlin leads the 2022-23 All-Northeast and All-Lake Central Conference girls basketball teams.

The Chargers won the NEC with a 9-0 record and the LCC with a 6-0 record.

Also included below is the All-LCC boys basketball team, which included three players from Sioux Valley. The Cossacks won the league with a 6-0 record.

All-NEC Girls Basketball

Senior Kami Wadsworth and freshman Addie Neuendorf made the first team, senior Ally Abraham the second team and senior Brooklyn Brandriet the third team for Hamlin. Wadsworth is a four-time first team honoree. Abraham made the first team and Neuendorf the third team last year.

Other First Team: Sophomore Krista Langager and junior Hannah Leverson of Sisseton and senior Maurina Street of Milbank. Leverson repeated as first-team honoree. Street previously made the second team twice and Langager earned second-team honors last winter.

Other Second Team: Juniors Emmalee Nielsen of Sisseton and Sydney Leicht of Groton Area and sophomores Ava Hanson of Aberdeen Roncalli and Isabella Anderson of Milbank. Anderson earned third-team honors in 2022.

Other Third Team: Seniors Alicia Vig of Clark-Willow Lake and Kennadee Bissonette of Tiospa Zina and juniors Katie Rozell of Redfield and Josie Andersen of Deuel. Vig made the second team and Rozell the third team last winter.

Final Standings: 1. Hamlin, 9-0; 2. Sisseton, 9-1; 3. Milbank, 8-2; 4. Groton Area, 6-4; 5. (Tie) Aberdeen Roncalli and Redfield, each 5-5; 7. Clark-Willow Lake, 4-5; 8, Deuel, 4-6; 9. Webster Area, 2-8; 10. Britton-Hecla, 1-8; 11. Tiospa Zina, 0-9.

All-LCC Girls Basketball

The 16-player squad includes Wadsworth, senior Ally Abraham and Neuendorf of Hamlin. Wadsworth is a four-time selection. Abraham repeated from last year.

Senior Jada Burke of De Smet also made the team for the fourth-straight year, earning two honors at Clark-Willow Lake and two at De Smet. Three-time honorees include senior Mackenzie Everson of Castlewood, junior Claire Sheppard of Flandreau and sophomore Isabelle Bloker of Sioux Valley.

Other repeat selections from 2022 include senior Maddie Horn of Castlewood, junior of Lizzie Pavlis of Flandreau and senior Emma Albrecht of De Smet.

Others named to the squad are junior Presley Knecht of Castlewood, seniors Landree Wilson and Ashley Bjerke of Sioux Valley, junior Lily Klein of Flandreau, senior Kayla Jordan of Clark-Willow Lake and junior Josie Andersen of Deuel.

Final Standings: 1. Hamlin, 6-0; 2. (Tie) Castlewood, Sioux Valley and Flandreau, each 4-2; 5. De Smet, 2-4; 6. Clark-Willow Lake, 1-5; 7. Deuel, 0-6.

All-LCC Boys Basketball

Seniors Oliver Vincent and Patrick Carey and junior Alec Squires each made the team from conference champion Sioux Valley. Vincent is a three-time selection and Squires repeated from last year.

The 14-player squad includes senior Brennan Keszler, junior Tyson Stevenson and sophomore Easton Neuendorf of Hamlin; junior Lane Tvedt of Castlewood; and senior Kaplan Felberg of Clark-Willow Lake. They all repeated from last year.

Rounding out the squad are seniors Damon Wilkinson and Kasen Janssen of De Smet, sophomore Bryon Laue of Castlewood, senior Trey Huber of Clark-Willow Lake, junior Trey Maaland of Deuel and sophomore Paul Parsley of Flandreau.

Final Standings: 1. Sioux Valley, 6-0; 2. Hamlin, 5-1; 3. De Smet, 4-2; 4. Castlewood, 3-3; 5. Clark-Willow Lake, 2-4; 6. Deuel, 1-5; 7. Flandreau, 0-6.
