The State College Spikes are getting strange.

State College will host “Strangest Things Night” on Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, as the Spikes take on the West Virginia Black Bears at 6:35 p.m. The festivities coincide with Friday’s release of Volume 2 of the fourth season of the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things.”

“We are excited to provide an atmosphere full of ‘80s music and strange occurrences at the ballpark to turn things upside down on Friday night,” Spikes president and general manager Scott Walker wrote in a press release. “It’s always a treat to put together fun theme nights, and we think fans will really enjoy Strangest Things Night on Friday.”

Medlar Field will also host Central PA 4th Fest on July 4 for Independence Day beginning at 4 p.m. Festivities will include the Human Cannonball act from David “The Bullet” Smith, who previous appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” music from Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Jackie Brown and the Gill Street Band and Velveeta, along with the 4th Fest fireworks show and Kids Run the Bases.

Unlike last year, 4th Fest won’t coincide with a Spikes game, as the team will have a road game against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
