Indiana State Comptroller Tera Klutz plans to resign from her role at the end of November, her office announced Thursday.

Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed Klutz to State Auditor in 2017 to finish now-Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch’s term. Klutz was reelected in 2022 to the role of State Auditor, which was recently changed to State Comptroller.

Klutz submitted her resignation to Holcomb Thursday, according to a news release.

"I’m grateful for Tera’s service and partnership as Indiana’s State Auditor, now State Comptroller, since I appointed her in 2017," Holcomb said in a statement. "As the first CPA to serve in the position, Tera has been a faithful fiscal steward with a keen focus on transparency and accountability, most notably by modernizing technology. Throughout her tenure, Indiana has been recognized nationally for its responsible financial reporting. I wish her the absolute best in this next chapter.”

Klutz started her career in public service 20 years ago in the Allen County Auditor's Office. She will remain in the comptroller’s role through Nov. 30, after which she will spend time with her family and return to work in the private sector, the news release states.

A spokesperson for the comptroller’s office said Holcomb will appoint someone to finish Klutz’s term. Holcomb will interview candidates with the goal of having a selection announced by mid-November.
