All-state cross country and soccer teams announced and several Pueblo athletes made the list
Several Pueblo high school athletes were recently recognized for their impressive fall sports performances by being named to the Colorado High School Activities Association's all-state teams.
The teams were selected by coaches based on the players' performances during the 2022 boys soccer and boys and girls cross-country seasons. Each of the Pueblo-area players selected for the first and second teams, as well as those who received honorable mentions, helped lead their teams to the CHSAA state playoffs this year in their sports.
Here are Pueblo's all-state selections this year:
Boys Soccer
Second team
Victor Quintana, forward, senior, Pueblo Centennial
Quintana was the only Pueblo athlete to make an all-state second team for soccer or cross country. He finished with 16 goals and 14 assists, totaling 49 points overall on the season for the Bulldogs. Quintana helped lead the team to a quarterfinal appearance in the 2022-23 CHSAA Class 4A Soccer State finals.
Honorable mention
Irvin Alardin, defender, senior, Pueblo Centennial
Alardin scored a goal in the Bulldogs' win over Eagle Valley in the playoffs, helping them advance to the quarterfinals. As a defender, he led one of the best defenses in the South Central League and helped the Bulldogs finish atop the league standings in a tie with Pueblo West. Alardin finished the year with seven goals and seven assists, totaling 21 points.
Bradford Goodrich, forward, senior, Pueblo West
In his senior season, Goodrich put up 17 goals and five assists, totaling 39 points and helping to lead the Cyclones to the playoffs in back-to-back years. He was also second in the S-CL in goals scored on the season.
Alex Robinson, defender, senior, Pueblo West
Also a senior, Robinson put up seven goals and had team-leading 10 assists, which was good enough for third overall in the S-CL. He finished with 24 overall points on the season while leading one of the top defenses in the league to a 9-1 record.

Girls cross country
Honorable mention
Amelia Marmolejo, senior, Pueblo West
Marmolejo received an honorable mention after she finished 17th overall this year at the cross-country state finals. She also finished second in regional competition with a time of 20:03, which was the best finish for any Pueblo girls runner.
Boys cross country
Honorable mention
Andres Cura, Junior, Pueblo South
Cura also was recognized with an honorable mention after he finished in the top ten in regional competition and reached the state finals for his second consecutive year. He finished in 22nd place and notched a top-30 finish for the first time in his career. One of Cura's best finishes this year came at the Central invitational where he took home first-place honors with a time of 16:38.
