State football rankings: Hilton makes big leap in Class A; Victor climbs in AA

Welcome to the ranked, Hilton.

The Cadets joined the state football rankings at No. 17 in Class A after spending the last couple of weeks at honorable mention. The Cadets are 7-1 and make the big jump into the New York State Sports Writers Association poll after last week’s big win at Canandaigua.

What about the other Section V football teams in the newest rankings? Let’s take a look.

Ranked Section V football teams, Class AA

UPrep (8-0) was in the No. 8 spot for the first poll of the season on Sept. 21 and that’s where the Griffins remain for a sixth straight week. Victor (7-1) climbs to No. 18 from the 23rd spot after a seventh straight win and McQuaid (6-2) falls to No. 22 from No. 13 after losing to Victor last week.

St. Anthony-CHSAA (6-1) remains in the top spot.

Ranked Section V football teams, Class A

East/WOIS (8-0) moves up to spots to No. 6 from No. 8 and Webster Schroeder (8-0) jumps three spots to No. 12 from No. 15. Hilton (7-1) is ranked at No. 17, up from honorable mention last week.

Canandaigua (6-2), which lost to Hilton last week, falls to honorable mention, where it’s joined by Brighton (6-2), Greece Athena (5-3), Irondequoit (4-4) and Spencerport (4-4).

Somers-I and Garden City-VIII are tied for the top spot.

Ranked Section V football teams, Class B

Batavia (8-0) moves up to No. 7 from No. 8 last week and Monroe (6-2) moves up one slot to No. 14 from 15. Honeoye Falls-Lima (6-2) moves up to No. 22 from No. 25.

Livonia (4-4) and Wayne (4-4) are honorable mention as Maine-Endwell-IV remains at No. 1.

Ranked Section V football teams, Class C

Attica (6-2) remains at No. 9 and Le Roy (6-1) remains at No. 11 while East Rochester/Gananda (7-1) jumps to No. 17 from No. 20.

At No. 19 is Penn Yan/Dundee (6-1), up from No. 23.

Honorable mention in Class C includes Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry (4-4), Lyons/Sodus (5-2) and Midlakes (4-4).

Chenango Forks-IV (7-1) remains at No. 1.

Ranked Section V football teams, Class D

Oakfield-Alabama (8-0) is at No. 2 and Alexander (7-0) is at No. 6. Honorable mention in this class includes Avon (5-3), Batavia Notre Dame (4-3) and York/Pavilion (5-2) while Tioga-IV remains at No. 1.

Ranked Section V football teams, 8-man

Canisteo-Greenwood (8-0) is still the top-ranked team in this class and Pembroke (7-1) moves up to No. from No. 7.

Bolivar-Richburg (5-3) and Red Jacket (5-3) are honorable mention.
