ALL-STATE GAMES START: BHS golfer helps leads East to win

For one final time, Lisa Brown strolled into a golf tournament representing Bartlesville High School.

The recent Lady Bruin graduate teed up in the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State links tournament and helped the East Girls knock off the West Girls.

Brown and her partner Brianna Maddox (Owasso) lost in their two-girl head-to-head match play competition, 2.5 and 1.5.

But, those 1.5 points expanded the East total to 14.5 to outscore the East (9.5) by five points. The official score was East 25, West 23.

Brown finished off her career with the Bartlesville girls golf team by finishing ninth in the Class 6A state meet. Finishing in the Top 10 earned Brown All-State recognition.

The OCA All-State Games in several sports are taking place this week.

A handful of area athletes have, or will be, participating.

Following are those area athletes on the updated rosters.

Three Bartlesville girls competed on the East Girls swim team — Aidan Howze, Amanda LaFrancois and Morgan Moore.

Oklahoma Union’’s Kade Hollingshed earned one of 12 spots on the Small East boys basketball team.

Oklahoma Union also will be represented by two girls on the Volleyball Small East team, Julia Barron and Sara McKinney.

Another Bartlesville girl that suited up this week was Maddie Shelley on the Tennis Large East team.

Bartlesville’s Sydney Collins is a late replacement on the Large East Volleyball squad.

Pawhuska had two players on the original Football East All-State team, defensive lineman Lesharo Wildcat and defensive back Dalton Hurd, but neither appeared on the updated 38-man roster provided earlier this week.
