Holt's Janae Tyler scores against DeWitt during the third quarter on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Coldwater High School.

From the moment Janae Tyler arrived in the Holt girls basketball program, she made her presence felt.

It started as a freshman when she earned second team all-state recognition after leading the Rams to a spot in a regional final before the COVID-19 wiped out remainder of the state tournament.

And it continued from there as Tyler cemented her place as the top scorer in Holt girls basketball history.

Tyler ended her record-setting career on a strong note this winter to repeat as an Associated Press first team all-state selection in Division 1. Tyler, who is signed to play at Kent State, helped the Rams finish 22-5 and capture league, district and regional championships in her final season. The regional title was the first in 48 seasons for Holt.

The 6-foot-1 Tyler was a force in the post and ended her career with program records in points (1,388) and rebounds (944). She was averaging 18.1 points and 12.5 rebounds entering the Rams' state quarterfinal loss to eventual state champion Rockford.

Joining Tyler in earning all-state accolades is Holt second-year coach Tori Brooks. The Rams had a nine-win improvement this season under Brooks while winning their first regional title since 1975.

The all-state team is led by Miss Basketball winner Macy Brown of East Grand Rapids, who is signed to play at Michigan. Rockford's Brad Wilson was named the coach of the year after leading the Rams to a state title.
