State library system offers free access to career learning materials

Nov. 30—The California State Library has launched a new service offering free access to career and educational materials for anyone with a library card.

Available online or in-person at any public library, the CAreer Pathways program gives people the opportunity to choose from a variety of training tools on topics like bookkeeping or data analytics that might otherwise cost $1,000 or more.

Library cardholders can also brush up on their English skills or earn a high school diploma online through a program called Career Online High School, according to a news release this week from the state library system.

The program results from a two-year investment of $10.2 million, administrated by the State Library.
