State and local officials investigating four ‘suspicious’ fires throughout Concord

First responders are investigating after what they are classifying as four “suspicious” fires cropped up throughout Concord Sunday.

Members of the Concord Police and Fire Departments first received a report of a fire outside the Beede Swim Center at noon. Responders found two fires, one behind the swim center and another in front of the swim area. There were no reported injuries, officials say.

Around half an hour later, officials received a report of another fire at the post office on Walden Street. No one received any injuries in that fire as well.

Finally, at 1:00 p.m. a fourth fire was reported near a shed on National Park Property at Lexington Road.

All four of the fires have been deemed suspicious and are under investigation with help from the National Park Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Massachusetts State Police, and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

A person of interest has been identified, police say.

Officials also say items that may have possibly been related to the other fires were found outside Concord District Court.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
