State marching contest results: Whiteface band lands top-4 spot

SAN ANTONIO — Marching bands from around Texas have converged on the Alamodome once again this week for the second week of the UIL State Marching Band Championships, with dozens of Class 5A, 3A, and 1A bands taking the field, chasing gold.

Class 5A bands competed Monday and Tuesday, 1A bands Tuesday and 3A bands compete on Wednesday. Six schools from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Amarillo Globe-News circulation areas qualified for state in 1A and 5A. (No 3A bands from the area qualified.)

Whiteface, the only school from the region to advance from preliminary competition to the final round, earned a fourth-place finish in Class 1A with their show "Rise."
