State museums and historic sites to close on Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Dec. 21—Even museums need a break.

According to the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, 15 museums and historic sites will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25, for Christmas, as well as Sunday, Jan. 1, for New Year's Day.

"After a busy year of running the exhibitions, programs, and events you know and love, the holidays provide a moment to spend time with family and get ready for the next year," the DCA said in a release.

The following museums and historic sites will be closed for Christmas and New Year's Day:

◆ New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo.

◆ New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science in Albuquerque.

◆ New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe.

◆ New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe.

◆ New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces.

◆ National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque.

◆ Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe.

◆ Museum of Indian Arts & Culture in Santa Fe.

◆ Los Luceros Historic Site in Alcalde.

◆ Lincoln Historic Site in Lincoln.

◆ Jemez Historic Site, just north of Jemez Springs.

◆ Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner in Fort Sumner.

◆ Fort Stanton in Capitan.

◆ Fort Selden in Radium Springs.

◆ Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo.

The DCA said the New Mexico Museum of Space History, the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science, and Lincoln, Fort Stanton, and Coronado Historic Sites will be open on Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2.

The remaining museums and historic sites will be closed, according to the Department of Cultural Affairs.
