'State of Oak Ridge Schools' is topic for League luncheon

Oak Ridge School Superintendent Bruce Borchers will speak on the “State of Oak Ridge Schools” at Lunch with the League 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18.

The program is open to the community and will be at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike. A meet and greet will begin at 11:30. A catered lunch from the Soup Kitchen will be available for $12, or you may bring your own. Complementary tea and coffee will be provided. There is no cost to attend and reservations are not needed.

Borchers started his education career as an elementary physical education teacher in the Sioux City, Iowa, Community School District. He also has worked as an interim assistant principal and guidance counselor in Iowa City, Iowa, as assistant principal and principal in Mankato, Minnesota, and as associate superintendent of secondary schools for the Anoka-Hennepin, Minnesota School District.

Before joining the Oak Ridge Schools, Borchers was superintendent of the Rockwood School District 2010-2013. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree from Wayne State College and the University of South Dakota, and a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College.
