State police: Chopper circles Olyphant at request of FAA

Mar. 31—A state police helicopter repeatedly circled a section of Olyphant late Thursday at the request of the Federal Aviation Administration, a spokesman said Friday.

FAA Traffic Control asked for assistance after someone aimed a green laser light at an aircraft in the area of Acorn Hill Drive, said Trooper Bob Urban, spokesman for Troop R in Dunmore.

Trooper 2, the state police aviation unit based in Pittston Twp., responded around 11 p.m. and circled the area for over an hour without finding anything, Urban said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call state police in Dunmore at 570-963-3160.
