State Police continue search for Eric Pyles 23 years after his disappearance in Jonestown

More than 23 years later, Pennsylvania State Police are still asking for residents' help as they continue to look for a youth who went missing in Jonestown.

Eric Wayne Pyles has not been seen since Dec. 12, 2000, after he got off his school bus near his home on Awol Road. Pyles was 12 years old at the time of his disappearance.

"Eric Pyles did not walk towards his residence and walked South of Awol Road in the backyard of a house on Silvertown Road," police said in a release Tuesday.

Pyles was later seen on the same day around 2:45 p.m. by the church secretary from the Jonestown Bible Church, which is near his residence.  Eric Pyles has not been seen since.

Police said Pyles had a history of running away but usually came back after a few hours. Police have conducted multiple searches but were not able to locate him.

Pyles is originally from Luray, Virginia, and both of his parents were living in Luray when he disappeared.

Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Pyles' discovery.
