State police found handguns, marijuana and a ‘large sum’ of money at the scene of motorcycle crash on I-264

Four motorcyclists were injured Saturday night after crashing on Interstate 264 near Birdneck Road in Virginia Beach.

State police estimated there were eight motorcycles traveling eastbound shortly before 7:30 at “an extremely high rate of speed” and weaving in and out of traffic when one crashed into a car.

Police said 21-year-old Enoch Sutton’s white Suzuki motorcycle crashed into the back of a 2016 Mercedes sedan.

After Sutton crashed, Kurtis Brown, 25, lost control of a black and orange Kawasaki motorcycle, and two other motorcyclists — Keith Vaughn, 25, andSidney Villarreal, 23, — crashed into each other, according to a news release from state police. Vaughn lost control of a blue Yamaha motorcycle and ran off the road, striking a steel cable.

Police did not say how fast the motorcycles were going.

The injured motorcyclists were taken to Virginia Beach General Hospital; three had injuries considered to be life-threatening. Villarreal’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, though state police initially told the Virginian-Pilot that all four motorcyclists had life-threatening injuries.

The person driving the car was not hurt, according to the news release.

Police said they found three handguns, marijuana and a “large sum” of money at the scene.

State police had not announced any specific charges as of Sunday but said charges are pending. The crash is still under investigation.
